And this stuff is on all my plants besides my banana plant, do I just start over plant wise or is there something I can do about this

I’ll probably be downvoted but let it sort itself out. A little bit of algae/mulm isn’t bad. If your tank parameters are off you def gotta change something though.

I have that on my plants in my betta tank – parameters are fine, fish are fine. When I’m doing my tank maintenance I reach my hand inside and try to rub some off of the plants and the decorations and then I just do a water change (usually 30% ish) and let it do its thing. I’ve never had any issues besides it just kinda looking gross.

  3. Typically detritus/general algae build up on plants happens because they just aren’t growing very fast or at all. What may help the most is looking at your routine to see why they aren’t thriving.

Do you use a general fert? And/or root tabs? Depending on your plant variety you may only need one or the other or both.

Then lighting would be next but that’s typically less of an issue if you have any decent led aquarium light.

Get those plants growing a bit faster and it’ll look “clean”

Algae it’s not a problem but an indicator, either too much light or mutrient excess leads to that, You can reduce feeding times or Even skip some days, cover the tank for 3 or 4 days without light can help too, some animals can eat the algae too like shrimps, using productos it’s another option too but some can be nocive for shrimps and other small animals so be careful, and the last resort it’s to start again and Even with that it can come back.

And as far as i can tell most algae are astetic problems more than a critical thing to solve, some people know about it more than me so take this with a grain of salt.

Anexating example below i’m working rn:

Thanks guys! It’s good to know I’m overreacting a tad bit and a simple routine change can fix or lessen the “issue”, it’s not even for the esthetics I was just mostly worried the algea would over take the plants and stunt their growth till they die

  6. the dirt needs to be “cleaned”, so do 80% water changes, this helps also with algae, and then get your water parameters into balance and in some time “all” algae is gone.
