I want to make a preset/quick release water bobber setup bc I don’t wanna spend a lot of time setting things up in the middle of fishing. This would be used for flies. I also fish spinners and spoons hence why I’d like it to be quick release.

braided main line > barrel swivel > (start of preset) snap swivel > water bobber > barrel swivel(end of preset) > 4ft mono leader. Beads at every knot where swivels are.

Would this work or is there too much going on that it’d spook fish? Even if there’s a 4ft leader?

I assume you are fishing for trout or similar fish that can be shy. What you have will catch fish but one would try to maximize the chances of catching shy fish too.

Looking at the size of the Suffix box I think your swivels and snaps are reasonably large. If it is trout then you can use number 14 or 16 swivels. The type of snap you using is pretty strong too and could go smaller. I would lose the beads unless the smaller swivels go through the tube. There is no really hard chafing on the knots. The knots fit into the central tube of the float.

I also make some intricate timesavers but I have to admit that tying knots quickly and simply at the water saves a lot of time and the rig is simple too. An alternative is to use a stopper on the line with the bead above it and you can slide the stopper up and down to vary the length of line to your fly.

Edit: I see from the box that those are size 10 swivels. I use that size on my lighter surf casting rods (casting 2oz sinkers), and a size 8 and a 6 on my heavier rods (casting up to 6oz). I have never had a breakoff at a swivel in 40 plus years. So dont be scared of using tiny swivels.

My only caveat is do not tie thick line to a small swivel, because the thin wire will cut the knot.

Im not following? Bobbers are by nature quick release. Yo u simply clip it on a line. You can use a bobber stop if necessary which also requires only a few seconds to apply to the line.

The other thing that is confusing me is why two swivels? Seems like overkill and turns your bobber setup into a much more expensive and time consuming rig.

Would it work? If it floats it will work.
