I ironically keep seeing posts on here and fb groups about family members, friends, coworkers, kids ruining peoples tanks from just blatant disregard, ignorance, or just plain not caring. i have been victim of this. i took over the office fish tank because my coworkers did not know the fish process, and i had it thriving with a betta named Charles and they killed it when i got sick with covid because they put so much food in his tank it had calcified against the glass. I forgave. I redid the tank bigger and better with all natural plants and woods and that tank is great and pictured in this post with a red betta names Louie. However again i left Friday in a rush from work very early for a family emergency i told a trusted coworker feed him 3 pellets and kill his lights for the weekend. Neither was done. thankfully i have red root floaters up the ass and it prevented an algae bloom, but i’m just so sick of people not caring about something that matters so deeply to a person. very thankful for my home tank that only i can touch. thank you for listening if you did. i am just so disappointed in humans sometimes

That’s so disappointing and I completely feel your pain. Maybe add a couple of smart plugs to the lights, so you can check on it on the weekend / after hours?
Other than that, maybe your co-workers would be better suited with a snail tank? They can be interesting as well and are usually a bit more forgiving.
Plus, a day of missing out on food isn’t the end of the world.
Definitely get smart plugs and don’t worry about him not eating for a couple days. Better that than them doing whatever they want.
Damn, sorry to hear that. Just a quick question tho, what are those floaters? I love that they are red
Edit: oh they are actually called red root floaters. Nvm
At my work I have a little aquarium with shrimps, I decided to put smart plugs because you cant trust anybody. I tried to have a “self sustaining” ecosystem because at work it can go south quite fast…
