He started building what I think are bubble nests. I’m pretty new to these things. It started along the edge of where we interact the most and bubbles starting lining up around the edge.

This morning he started favoring that corner more than usual and got a little worried. Then I noticed the nest!

He seems happy and content, and not scared or hiding from me. He seems proud of them and almost like he’s showing them off to me.

Was curious what the consensus on these are. I’m hoping it’s a sign that he’s feeling comfortable in the environment.

Just curious what the consensus is here.

You are one very lucky owner! Those are bubble nests. It shows that he feels safe, comfortable and that he enjoys his tank.
It could also mean he is ready for breeding👀

Yes this is a bubble nest! Males, even some females do it when they reach sexual maturity. a lot of people think they do it when they’re happy but that’s a misconception, they do it either way. But your betta seems really content and happy!

Also, I know you didn’t mention breeding him but definitely don’t do it unless you’re a professional! Bettas can lay hundreds of eggs. Just so you’re aware!

  3. It means he’s sexually mature, no more and no less. They’ll even build them in cups at the pet store, doesn’t really mean anything in terms of health or quality of environment.
