I tried a Berkley “The Champ” minnow on a ned hook and it worked like magic. I think i caught 6 smallies that day in about an hour.

Yum Hellgrammite or similar. A 4” Roboworm. Zoom mini lizard. Just about any finesse craw. And yeah, the Ned Bomb you mentioned is a winner too.
Edit: cut the tails off a hula grub and throw that sucker on there.

I used to throw the Berkely lil trooper a lot. Then I switched to the xzone stealth craw. Now Im back on trd style baits.
Small plastic craw works great on a ned
TRD craw on a Football Ned jig.
