I went into my LFS in search of a centerpiece fish for my community tank, currently stocked with black neons, diamond tetras and a few panda garras. I was thinking a ram of some sort would be cool, but the store owner recommended ivanacara bimaculata based on my aquarium size and tank mates. I had never heard of them, but I am so glad I was talked into buying one!
I've had this little fish for about a month and it is really showing its color-changing abilities, shifting from light to dark tones while maintaining a beautiful blue pattern through the change. These two pictures are a few days apart, but sometimes you can see the transition happen in real time. I can't recommend this fish enough!
(If anyone can help me figure out if I have a guy or girl, that might help me pick a name lol)
