Years and years ago when I was younger, I kept betta fish, but not in the proper manner as one should. But now years later, I want to (properly) get into the hobby again. After tons and tons of research I recently purchased this 10 gallon, fitted it with substrate, rocks (all of the sharp edges have been filed down) sand, stones, and just today finally got to plant it. I have a sponge filter, a smart heater to keep it at 80 1/2° and alarm me if it gets out of my desired range. A proper light, water testing kits, and all of my parameters look amazing. (Been cycling for about 2 weeks checking every other day) I’m planning on getting a couple nerite snails and possibly a otocinclus. I would get those before I added a betta, but the point of this post is I want you guys to absolutely tear me apart. Let me know everything that I’m doing wrong. I feel as if I’m doing this in the proper manner, but I want to make sure that I really am doing this in the proper manner. So rip me apart!

It looks great. My advice on the Nerite snails though, only get one for that tank size. They poop ALOT, so you don’t want two. I have one in my 10 gallon and holy crap the maintenance on cleaning all the poop is crazy. But the tank looks great! Very pretty!
I’ve had a nerite in with my betta since March and they are just fine in a 10 gal. But I will say, I had dragon stone in my setup and had to remove it after I assume he tore his fins on it. Smooth rocks only for us now.
I wouldn’t get 1 oto, they should be in groups, and if you just want it for a cleaner, the nerite will take care of it
