Im taking care of a fish for my sister for a week and this is the setup… no air, no filter, no live plants, no aquarium light. Just this. I'm kind of worried for the fish, but it doesn't look like its in terrible condition. Should i be worried? Never took care of a betta before…
She said she doesn't change the water for weeks at a time and that i won't need to do any water changes.

Contemplating buying a basic filter and air for the little guy…

Test that water and share the results I bet it is crazy
This is a very sad setup, bettas need a tank of minimum 5 gallons, heater and filtration, maybe try telling her to upgrade and get the necessary supplies to look after him
Does she have a birthday coming up? Maybe gift her with the correct set up and claim that you just want to help give HER some things to make her betta happier.
