Recently setup tank July 2024 because my eldest daughter (6) begged me. Now I'm an obsessive fishkeeper, and I'm not sure if she's interested anymore.

Mostly looking for any suggestions about anything I've done that I'm going to regret in 6-12 months.

Black theme matches the black cabinetry.

Ultum contorsoil + Aqua diamond black + Aqua bio-substrate, seiryu rock and resin decor rocks (i.e. the left tall "rock" is actual hollow with fake plants on it)

Stocking: 4 neon tetra, 4 ruby tetra, red cherry shrimp 8+

Plants: monte carlo back left, water Spangles and frogbit for floaters (had a mix red roots and others but I think the two aforementioned have outcompeted the others), then the main plants honestly I don't know – I bought a variety pack off Etsy and I've never been able to match up the item description with what they sent. Any help ID of plants would be great. I just plan to let them grow in and trim/propagate/replant as necessary.

Lighting: indirect natural light, 18w LED runs 6hrs a day on 70% raised about 4 inches, broken into 3 times of day we're most likely in the room for meals.

Other equipment: uv light, 150 gph submerged filter with one sponge removed and replaced with ceramic bio balls, heater.

Feed a small pinch of flucal flakes twice a day (sporadically skip feedings), plus aqueon omnivore shrimp food once about twice a week.

Lost a female beta early and an otocinclus (likely added beta before tank had fully cycled / gut bacteria issues with the oto as he became lethargic and tummy turned green).

Note the front left includes some glass beads that just make it easy to suck up any leftover shrimp food.

API leaf zone 1 per week, not doing CO2, top off once per week with 10% water change (due to quick vacuuming of excess shrimp food and any loose food/litter).

Parameters have all been stable and temp about 77 degrees.

Shells strewn about and the bit of coral are in there because I have 6 and 4 year old daughters, and I figured probably the calcium might be good for the shrimp.
