I recently upgraded my tank from a 30 gallon to a 40 gallon. Look at the seals on my old tank vs. my new one. I believe I was probably not too far away from my tank failing. I had the old for about 7 years and had found it on an alley. I have no idea how old it was prior to that.

I don’t see anything sticking out on the first image, are you referring to the strip deteriorating? That is normal wear and tear, I’d only start panicking if you saw air bubbles closer to where the glass touches. The strips of silicone, especially for tanks like aqueon, are very spread out and tend to get stuff under them or get shaven off with time.
