Is this enough to get me started?

  1. Looks like it.

I’d recommend polarized sunglasses and hemostats or whatever small pliers you prefer.

I would go to a local fly shop and get a handful of flies. You can get tying stuff later if you want. Tying flies is a big leap unless someone is showing you.

Ditch the fly thing material kit. Those are way overpriced. Get yourself some #18-20 nymph hooks, spools of red/olive/black/brown, a peacock feather, some silver/black beads and silver/copper wire. Purchase your flies for now until you can tie zebra midges with your eyes closed. That rod outfit will get you started but the reel won’t last long which is ok. Hand dragging is a useful skill to have. I use that vise kit as my travel kit. No complaints. Ditch the fly shop fly box thing. (It’s a thought in the right direction) Pick up clippers hemostats 4x 5x 6x tippet a double sided case and (personal preference) small airlock indicators. Retractors are a nice thing to have for your clippers and hemostats. Last but not least bass pro/cabelas is way overpriced on their fly fishing selection.
