I have had these reels for about 10 years. Gave them both new rods and new line.

Very overcast day and I caught nothing but it was beautiful none the less.

  1. 3″ Megabass spark shads (photo of local shad for comparison) on a Mustad ned rig for the baitcaster and a classic catfish rig on the spinning reel.

Baitcast combo is a Bass Pro Pro Qualifier Z from back when they were made by Doyo on a Handing Miracle ML 6’8″, 30lb Seaguar 101 braid (12lb Seaguar floro leader).

Spinning reel is a Shimano ix 4000r on a Daiwa D-Shock 7′ H. I use it for catfish rigs and heavy swimbaits.

  2. I wish the IX’s had instant anti reverse.

Would be great budget reels but I just really hate that aspect.

Used one in salt for a few weeks when I didn’t have my other gear, handled small and medium inshore stuff surprisingly well lol

  3. How do you like the R4000? I was gifted the same model R2000 very recently and am excited to use it
