Using 50lb fluoro for making rigs, any time I tie knots no matter how careful I am the line starts to curl up and do funky shit. Never have this problem with thinner line so not sure if this is something that can happen with thick line or if this stuff is just cheap

  1. Fluoro can be a nightmare. I hate dealing with it. Get some line spray. It will help keep it straight.

You can use some rubber, like an old inner tube. Fold the rubber over line and pinch it while running the rubber up and down the line. This will straighten it. We used it in flyfishing to straighten coiled leaders.

Are you sufficiently lubricating your knots and conching them slowly? Looks like it could be friction causing it. Could also possibly be caused by coiling around a finger or two for grip when pulling tight, if you do that of course.

Sometimes Flouro can do this but to this degree is over the top but it may be possible to stretch the memory out of it.
