I am getting into jigging and want to know if this is the right size for bluegill an even trout. Mainly am targeting trout for now but want to fish for crappie and bluegill later on in the year. Also what color and brands would you recommend?
Setup is Daiwa airdx medium light f with a sienna 2500 with 4lb mono

Try it, but I would call that too big. I like the trout and crappie magnets or the the Z-man micro finesse plastics. Walmart has Creme pre-rigged twirl tail jigs in a 6 pack for under two bucks also.
I prefer a 2 inch curly tail on a 1/32.
The problem is the hook size. You’ll have a harder time actually hooking bluegill on that unless they’re larger.
Crappie would have limited issue with that outside of tiny ones.
Might weed out bites from smaller trout (again hook size issue), but medium sized and bigger trout will have no problems.
I throw 4-6″ plastics with 1/0 jigheads all the time for bigger trout.
My go to for bluegill/crappie/trout are crappie jigs heads raning from 1/32 to 1/4 ounce with 2-3″ crappie baits. Your rig would be a killer sauger/walleye jigging bait.
A 1 to 2 inch is what you need for panfish. 3in is probably ok for active trout though, but even trout will eat the 1 to 2 inch grub. Bass pro shops has a bait in their crappie maxx line that I use a lot called a bumblebee. It is a 2in straight grub with a ball tail. It works fantastic for jigging and has accounted for thousands of fish for me over the past few years. I have caught trout, pickerel, bass, spotted sunfish, bluegill, mayan cichlid, oscar, peacock bass, crappie all on this one lure. It is my go to for multi species.
