Just put my new tranx on a rod and I was reeling it in and it started make a weird scratching noise. It also felt somewhat stuck and grainy to reel. Is this normal and do I have to break it in or is something wrong.

Pull the spool out and pop it back in. Sounds like something is out of alignment and the spool is rubbing on the frame.

Loosen then tighten the tension knob. Same thing happened to me with my Curado.
