hi! i just recently got a betta for the first time. I have put a lot of work into this tank over the last month and was really anxious about getting a fish that I think I maybe overlooked something. when I was at the store I scanned over the betta to make sure he (or maybe she i dont know) was healthy (like no active fin rot or weird spots) and active but now im a little worried that his head might be shaped incorrectly? is this a major health defect or will he (named scallop) be ok? thank you 🙏

He seems to have quite a humped back?
I’ve no idea if that’s a problem, or just a natural variation in shapes, though I don’t think I’ve seen a betta with that ‘deep’ a body before.
It sounds like you have a good set-up & understand what you’re doing. I reckon if he’s moving around & doing normal stuff, then that’s good – it could be some in-breeding, but assuming you’re not going to breed from him?
I’d recommend some live food in addition to pellets- my last betta really got excited at the very sight of blackworms. 😁
I think he is double-tailed.
Weird shape.
Totally should’ve nicknamed him Beluga after the airbus beluga. Even the colours match! 😂 He’s adorable though
