I've always wondered how much the colour of your braid actually matters? I've used dark green braid exclusively for top water/punching. I've been wanting to try something new but noticed that most of the higher-end JDM braid looks like a rainbow. Does the colour really not matter?

I personally don’t think so in most scenarios. In crystal clear water on the Great Lakes I throw hi vis green and yellow braid albeit with a 10ft fluoro leader. But that certainly doesn’t mean at times they don’t get line shy. All you can really do is throw it and see.
High vis always if it’s very clear I’ll use a fluro leader
