Today I whittnessed one of my Kuhlis eating a shrimp alive and I am baffled.

I suspect the loach caught the shrimp while molting but I already thought that the number of my shrimp was decreasing since I introduced the Khulis.
My original guess was that they hunted the baby shrimp and eat the the eggs but today I stumbled upon this loach eating a fully grown shrimp…

Has anyone seen something like this in their tanks before?

  1. God I didn’t know they had that strength.

Honestly I have no experience with kuhlis loaches. But I wanted some for my 350l where I have shrimp already so I want to see what people answer as well.

That shrimp seemed extremely sluggish in the video (unless there was an initial attack that wasn’t captured in the clip). It could have already been on the way out or about to molt like you said. Lots of fish will attack a molting shrimp, (especially loaches seem to know).

It’s not unheard of for kuhlis to hunt healthy shrimp though. I’ve seen it on yt and heard stories before.
