Quick question I want to get into fishing, my condo has a beautiful lake right behind it and I'd love to just sit and fish for a bit. Just wondering if this kit is ok for a beginner?

Yeah man give it a try. If you really get into fishing you can up grade later

You’d be better off getting a normal rod rather than a telescopic. I don’t think a cheap one would last long.

I would recommend before buying anything looking up what kind of fish live in that body of water
Different fish have different diets
For example carp like to go around the bottom looking for food, so i think its unlikely they would bite a swimbait, (the plastic fish lures)
Most people use either corn or bread and leave them in the bottom
So look up the species in the pond, and then look those up on youtube, theres crazy good short guides on there
Fishing with nat is a nice, straight to the point youtuber that does precisely that
Happy fishing!
