If you didn’t see my last post: I poured 400 lbs of water into this tank and I cannot move it. (See first pic of current tank and cat tax). Then realized the placement of my surge protector is very poor because of splash hazards. Asked everyone what I should do and here is the short, medium, and long term fix:
Short term fix: I used weather stripping to cover the outlet. It’s a little clear roof with overlapping shingles. It’s also rubber so it’s non conductive. (See second pic)
Mid term: I am going to get a longer power cord and run it to the next closest outlet in the room next door.
Long term: during a big big water change I am going to drain a ton of this tank and scoot it over about 4 inches and put a bubble cover on it.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Helped for sure!

I really wouldn’t worry about it. Just mount the power strip up near the tank on the opposite side and let the cords hang below the power strip for a drip loop. Then just be careful when doing water changes and it’ll likely never be a problem other than the other outlet being blocked.
Move the outlet easy peasy
Can’t you just remove enough of the water like you would with a water change anyway until it’s light enough to move
I would still add a drip loop if you don’t already plan to, it’s almost no effort to basically guarantee that you won’t get water in the outlet
Just curios if you worried wouldn’t it be easier to get those socket cover box ?
Drain the tank, slide it if you want. It’s also fine how it is 🙂
Do you have some big plastic storage bins you could use temporarily? Clean them, drain tank into them so you don’t lose the water, move tank, replace water.
