This is listed on Offerup for free. It's 20 gallons, I'd like to use for a planted aquarium, few fish if any at all.
It's advertised for reptiles, but I wanted to know if it would be safe to use as a fish tank? The guy even offered to throw down a second layer of silicone around the edges. Idk how much that would strengthen the integrity of the tank.

I am not here to say what everyone who came to the comments to say
No, for many reasons. The biggest one is that non-aquarium glass is not made to handle the water pressure and will likely break very suddenly.
Nope. At most a plaudarium.
I had one of these reptile tanks and it held up for 2 years recently islts cracked 2 times
It looks like it’s not that deep so I don’t see why it shouldn’t work. But first thing I’d do is take outside and fill up to test.
You can use an aquarium as a terrarium but you cannot use a terrarium as an aquarium. They aren’t built the same way, they aren’t sealed the same way. It may hold water for a little while but it absolutely will leak or burst. It’s a matter of when, not if.
I would say that with some silicone, it could be waterproof, but i wouldn’t trust the glass to hold up against the weight of 20 gallons of water. I would design some sort of vivarium with just a couple inches of water in the bottom, with the main focus being terrestrial scaping. It would make a great home for caridina shrimp and vampire crabs
No.
Had a friend recently who gave away a thirty gallon “tank” that was originally a reptile terrarium. Helped them load up with another friend who took the tank. Friend who took the tank told me the next day as he was carrying it into his apartment the front panel fell off, fish and broken glass all over the ground outside of his apartment, with several casualties. The tank had held water for 8 months but I believe the jostling around when we moved it and it traveled caused the wreckage.
Short answer is – no.
The glass looks too thin, I’d be worried about the bottom busting out. Maybe with a good re-seal job it could work for mud dwelling amphibians but not as an aquarium.
I wouldn’t
How much are you paying for it? U can find pretty cheap new tanks on sale time to time from big stores
