its an old Abu garcia ambassadeur 5000 from my grandpa. is it worth anymore than a new one?

Going rate on the auction site is around $30. This model has bushings, not bearings. Can be upgraded and tuned though.

100% not more valuable than a new one, however if the reel has been properly maintained, it’s about as bulletproof of a reel you’ll ever use. I’ve caught hundreds of fish with Abu Garcia Ambassador reels. Most specifically for me, the 5000 series is a tried and true masterpiece of engineering.
Don’t sell it or get rid of it, get some repairs done and use it or put it on a shelf to remember your Grandpa!
