I ordered this "galaxy loach" online. I'm new to loaches, but this is some type of eel right? Can someone enlighten me? If it's in fact a galaxy loach I'm going to feel silly for posting this, but if it is in fact something else I've purchased, I need to research the proper animal's care and I'm feeling like this is no loach at all…

Not a galaxy loach, looks like an eel.
Maybe a zig zag eel. Cool score
Okay, I am not an expert and might be completely wrong, BUT it looks kinda like a zig zag eel with that cool pattern on the back.
lol that’s a spiny eel cool fish fairly easy care
Not a true eel but some kind of spiny eel. Strangely enough these guys are closely related to labyrinthfish like gourami’s.
He also resembles the “African Starry Night Eel” a bit. I’ll research all three and see if I come up with something definitive.
So loach, such galaxy! (That’s a spiny eel)
Holy mother of jesus that’s an eel
I agree with the others that this is something in the spiny eel family mostly because he looks a lot like my yellowtail spiny, the head is a perfect match for shape but he’s about twice as long for the thickness he has compared to my spiny

100% a spiny eel, Mastacembelus of some sort. Might be a M. liberiensis, orange spot spiny eel. They look very similar to this when they’re smaller especially, but lose some of the pattern as they get older.
Edit: actually leaning towards M. frenatus. Starry night eel. They’re a bit slimmer than liberiensis, would make more sense with those proportions
Zig zag eel
