Did I hurt this fish?you can see where the hook went it, it’s my first fish ever and it was pretty difficult to get the hook out, after the hook was out he was flopping around so I knew that hurt but when released swam back seemingly fine, (blood from the top lip and head scared me, didn’t mean to hurt it😕)

No, that’s actually quite common. He will heal and live a normal life (:
looks like you got yourself a lil catfish.
it’s fine.
#1 thing is to remove hook and get it back into water as quickly as possible (preferably less than a minute), them flopping around out of water is a normal reaction to them suffocating (like trying to get back into water to breath).
Luckily catfish are quite tolerant for excursions.
IF in the future you happen to catch something that has completely swallowed the hook, just cut the line as close as possible and release it quickly, they will live. #1 thing is a quick release over all else.
IF you snag or catch on on the gills, be very careful not to shred the gills off. If it’s tangled bad or just in a funky way you fear for the safety of the fish just cut as much line around the hook/gills and release it quickly.
Keep it up
