Just went to get a few plants for my tank and saw four dead betas in the cups at Petsmart. ,Dirty water and more betas gasping and sinking to the bottom of their cups…we have to stop this.

Dang, our pet smart and pet co doesn’t have that. They have them in cups for awhile. But if they stay too long they stick them in tanks with other fish. They change their water daily and usually give them some sort of plant or moss in their cup too to hide in. I mean it’s not perfect but they are trying
That’s so awful. My local PetSmart has the same set-up (since it’s a company wide thing) but you can tell that the employees truly care about the bettas. The fish I’ve seen there are definitely more healthy than this, not by much but still a little healthier. They normally take very sick/dead fish off of the shelves quickly and the water in the cups looks decently clean. I even went back to the main fish section (like where the goldfish are) and they had a male koi betta in this tank where they were selling live fish. I think it really depends on the location, but this is an absolute disgrace.
Poor babies💔 my Petsmart has the same set up but I have to say whenever I’ve mentioned one doesn’t look good they put it in quarantine and try to to help it come back from the illness it has
It’s so sad they torture them like that!! 😡🤬
