Hey guys

Running this ADA 90p (roughly 40 breeder) tank. Plants are still filling in, but they’re mostly decor for the livestock

I want to keep some fish that can jump. I can’t get a regular cover because of the driftwood poking out and overhead light. Any innovative / DIY types have ideas on a system so I can get some top dwellers who have been known to be Jumpt at times ?

I was thinking of some kind of rigid netting that can maybe extend the sides a foot or so. I don’t know if any such netting personally, but maybe like a window screen type thing?

You could try a plexiglass or acrylic lid. You can cut a circle where the wood comes out of water and equipment.

I made a hole for a DIY cave out of a acrylic container using a hot knife, you can measure and cut it to size for a lid

Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aquariums/s/X2bIlUTozm something like this for plexiglass, just the hole for the wood. I’m not sure if the tiny ones are necessary.

  2. I don’t really have any solution for you, I’m mostly just interested in what other suggestions people have.

All I can think of is having some kind of cheesecloth on the waterline, but I feel like that could cause more harm to the fish and would be a pain to deal with whenever you needed to do matenence- and don’t get me started on algae! 😩

What sort of fish are you planning on getting?

You could use some twin wall polycarbonate (greenhouse siding) then weigh that down with whatever you like.

I dont have any solutions to ur problems but can u tell me where dis u buy your light fixture stuff. I need mind to be that high

  5. Yeah I think you’re on the money with the mesh idea. Some fine wire or something would work. Maybe just seal the sides with something so it’s not sharp and snaggy. U channel seals would probably work.
