Was planning to fish this coming weekend here in California but there’s rain in the forecast. Should I be deterred? I mean the fish are already wet. Does the rain climate affect the bite?
Talk to me about y’all’s experience when fishing in the rain. (Photo of the local watering hole I fish)

Nice spot! Dang… just a beautiful surrounding to fish
In my experience rain doesn’t necessarily change the bite, but depending on how hard the rain is falling you may have to adjust lure selection. Depending on how hard the rain falls, it seems it can make quite a difference in the noise levels under the water. They also affect where fish are holding.
Barometric pressure changes associated with the weather can drastically affect the bite though, and also where fish are holding. Barometric pressure differences impact their comfort as far as their air bladder and whether they’ll be high or low in the water column.
Edit – tldr: will the weather affect your fishing? Maybe. Can we assume it always impacts it in a negative way? Nope. Is the only way to find out if you go? Yep. Is a bad day fishing still fun? Yep. 👍
