I got this little guy two days ago and I came home to see him sleeping? Vertically? behind my heater. I nudged him and he started swimming like normal and looks completely healthy. I just about had a heart attack!
Is this just typical betta behavior or is something wrong? I have heard that bettas sleep in weird positions all the time!

Hi this is completely normal, my Betta does it too and sheās a very happy and healthy girl have lots of pics of her doing it, they must find it comfy haha
You can get him a betta hammock to sleep on
He is so cute!! All of my bettas have done this, they just like being able to rest close to the water, you can get a betta hammock/leaf for him, but even then mine likes to be behind the heater because itās a more isolated place.
My bettas favorite spot is behind the heater too! Freaks me out but heās never gotten stuck or anything. Weird, but normal
