Got the reel (piscifun flame 1000 size) on scamazon for 5 bucks since I had a gift card, and the rod (ozark trail IM7 5'6" light action) for 35 at the local wally world. Spooled with 6lb suffix 832. This will be my pan-fish setup for the lake, doesnt feel like a bad combo for $40.
The reel actually surprised me. I was expecting it to be a marginal step up from the single bearing $20 Shakespeare reels, but not as nice as my kastking sharky iii. Feels like a huge step up from $20 walmart reels, but doesn't quite hit the level my sharky does.
Cheap gear for the win! Now tell me how I'm stupid and am going to lose my pb on cheap trash please 😁 tight lines 🤙

Not stupid if it works!!
Fish don’t care what rod and reel catch em
Nothing to roast here brotha. Looks dialed
When starting to fish as an adult I used to ask my dad if so and so rod/reel will work for trout with the right string and bait, or if so and so rod/reel would work for whatever with the right string and bait. He always responds: people used to catch fish with sticks
