Is this good for someone who wants to get into fishing and to get their first rod?

It’s 25$, it’ll catch a fish. Go for it

Yup. Abu is a solid brand and low entry cost. Also like spinning reels. Very versatile.

Yes, I bought this exact combo on a trip. Use it quite often. Been very dependable.
The reel is a bit heavier than similar size Shimano. Use it for live bait or do nothing senko or drop shot rigs.

you can catch fish with any rod you don’t need fancy stuff don’t let those tik tok fishermen fool you! i use hand me downs from my dad and they work great if you take care of them some of my shimano baitcaster reels are over 20 years old (a few are older than me) i just clean them after i use them.

fish don’t care. Abu is a pretty decent brand. zebco is a solid choice as well. caught a lot of fish. you don’t need to break the bank on shit like that.

The only thing to really consider imo is what fish are you targeting and what is the normal lure size and stuff to go with for that fish.
If you’re going for trout you want an ultra light or light, if you’re going for something like bass you want like a light medium or medium
