Looking for something in the 9’-9’6 range. I’ll include a few pictures of fish + the types of rivers I’ll mainly be fishing on, and I would love some input about rod weight and size. Mainly throwing dries and small streamers. I have a 590, but I feel a bit overgunned and would love to play the smaller fish a little more. Majority of fish I’m catching are under 10 inches, but I’ll get the occasional 12-15 incher that would make me a bit nervous on a 3 wt, but the again maybe I just need to get better at fighting fish.
Thanks in advance, tight lines 🤙

Do you get much wind? With tight streams and trees you could probably pass a 3wt. If you get a lot of wind to land some longer casts you may want to go up to a 4wt
I was casting a buddy’s 4wt Helios today and it was awesome, would def recommend it
I have one of the short 3wt butter sticks and that thing is so fun.
I love my sage trout LL 389. Can generate enough line speed to cut some wind. I’ve landed 20” fish on it aswell. Might be able to get a good deal on one they are discontinued.
I picked up a 4wt sage foundation last year, it’s been my primary rod since. I’m very happy with it, casts beautifully and accurately, highly recommend! Bonus is it’s made in USA.
Ross Animas 3/4 is my go to. Such a pleasure to use with either a graphite, fiberglass, or bamboo. I prefer SA creek trout line as well for 4WT
