Hello folks. I'm pretty new in fishing and have been fishing for like 3 times ever (my dad has more experience but got into hobby deeper at same time as i tried fishing for the first time). This reel was found in the trash and was given to us. Can someone experienced tell me more about this reel, when it was made and was it good?

Abu makes really good stuff.
Even though it’s old, it might work well for ya if not all rusted to shit inside.
Does the handle spin smoothly without a bunch of crunchy feeling and wobbles?
Give it a good, hard spin. Ideally, it keeps spinning for a number of revolutions.
If it stops right away it needs some service.
Search for YouTube videos showing you how to disassemble, clean, oil and grease it correctly.
Get some fresh line installed, and give ‘er a go!
Buy a Shimano Sedona it will be better
