I’m trying get a comparable Daiwa Tatula XT to the SLX A, but the Tatula XT comes in a 7’ ML Fast and 7’1” ML Extra Fast. I’m leaning toward the Fast because the SLX seems more moderate fast and fast should be more versatile like my Expride. Thoughts!? (Finn thinks it’s play time because his favorite thing is chasing a squirrel tied to the rod bottom and reel of a 2 piece rod 🤣)

Im kind of in the same position as you, but lookin at ultra lights for trout fishing. Looking to match the action of my 6ft ultralight fenwick HMG. I like the tatula xt but i think the fast action will be too stiff?? But in your case im with you on the fast action
The easiest way to understand why some “Extra Fast” actions rods seem faster or more parabolic is because you have to factor in the rods power into the action as well. For example, a medium powered extra fast action spinning rod will seem much “faster” than say a light powered extra fast action spinning rod, both are the same action, but purely cause the medium rod is more powerful thus stiffer inherently, it will always seem “faster” than the light powered rod
