Hello friends,
I am building a stand for my 55 gallon. I plan to have a nice rock scape so I am trying to account for more than just water and normal scape weights in my build. And advice would be appreciated! Thank you all

One 2×4 standing up right can hold 1000 pounds.

I’d trust it 100% as long as it doesn’t have any racking motion or wobble to it.

It looks nice.

Try adding some cinder blocks in the empty space below for some support

To give the engineering answer as I study for my PE. Thats 4,000lbs total support from the 2x4s, which equates to 500gal of water. A factor of safety of 10. Only at that weight would you be concerned about using bolts instead of screws.

He’ll yeah I built one very similar to that for 75g

Mine was about 22 inches wide but I think you’ll be fine with that for a 55

That’ll hold over a tonne mate, you’ll be fine.

I’m more worried about the weight on the glass! Your stand looks awesome, but if you are doing a framed 55gal, will the rock scape weigh too much? You could put a plank of plywood over the stand as a base for a frameless tank (if you do so in the future).

Made mine out 1x4s 8n a similar manor, without those inside vertical supports.
I used a sheet of 1/8″ plywood on the sides and back for lateral support, glued and screwed.
It has held my 75 gallon without issue. Yours is signifcantly over built, I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

I don’t have it anymore but I think it was about 15 I made the stand a few inches wider all around so when I put the top board on their would be some room to put things on like food containers and such

You used screws right!
