Picked up a Tailwalk TRGR Note from Asian Portal. It’s a neat little rod that I thought would made a cool travel set up or to throw in the car with a small kit for some impromptu fishing. For reference, I mostly fish jetties and some surf in the Northern California coast.
This guy is about 21”/53.5cm closed and 9’/2.7m open. Rated 5-45g or about 3/16-1 1/2 oz. It’s a pretty fast action-only the top 2 sections doing any bending-the top handling most of the work.
Fit and finish is very nice. It has a kind of higher density EVA foam on the rear grip which is pretty cool. I don’t typically like how squishy EVA grips are but this feels solid. The reverse-mount Fuji VSS(I think) reel seat with the aluminum nut is nice and solid. The cork is an interesting choice. Not my favorite but not terrible. The guides are functional. The cover is neat.
