Any recommendations on which is better for lure fishing? It is for fishing from the beach or from a breakwater looking for snappers or triggerfish. I have seen that many people recommend it but I see that there are 2 options online and the one I find the most reviews about is the 2017 version.
I need something that can last without having it to change it and that is easy to maintain.

What size fish are you thinking about? These are heavy reels and general lure fishing is usually on the lighter side (2500-3000 sized reels such as exceler, legalis, sienna, nasci, vanford, ultegra, caldia etc…).

New spool design and drag stack/ drag knob. So less weight across the board and more drag pressure. Also they removed 1 bearing located at the spool in the new one (doesn’t matter imo). Can’t fully confirm this but they also added what I believe looks like a anti friction collar on the rotor nut to make it a ‘floating main shaft’ which would make it reel a bit better under pressure. Still, it has no rubber seals around the body, no IPX sealing at all and runs the exact same gearset. Would recommend a BG MQ or Spheros for longevity in the salt. Tight lines
