I got some new stuff for my guy Divas tank… he’s kinda been neurotic since… is this normal? Also fairly new to fish keeping. I have a filter, 5.5 gallon tank, heater. Any KIND tips and information is welcome!!

He’s curious about what’s going on outside too they’re very curious and interactive fish! Nothing to worry about. It’s when they’re resting more than normal that you start worrying. Bettas are supposed to be active a bit
no, this is actually really good behaviour. don’t know if that’s neurotic, it looks to me like he just saw something exciting outside his tank. five gallons is a bit small, will say that, but not impossible. as long as a betta is physically healthy and their water parameters are fine you really don’t need to worry about their mental health. they’re a smart fish and everything and do enjoy enrichment but… there’s not *that* much going on and they’re pretty entertained by the simplest things. for whatever mental health they need, the worst things you can do for them are stressing them out with a ton of water changes or constantly re-arranging everything in their tank. just keep things stable.
