the first photo is from yesterday, maybe 24 hours ago, when i was acclimating my new koi betta to my tank. today i came home from a day out, not having fed him because he already looked slightly bloated when i got him, he looked like the second photo. the tank is a 10 gal, the parameters are fine, the heater and filter are perfect, and i don’t see any pineconing or anything. what could it be???

He might be constipated. I’d suggest trying some daphnia which stimulates bowel movements in bettas. (Which sadly, they often come with poor immune systems and bad health conditions.) If you got him from a breeder, definitely reach out to ask about this if he came looking a little bloated. Also, if he hungry if you offer food?
