Hi!

I’m pending my first ever Betta fish and I’m SO excited.

I’ve had my tank set up for a week, I bought the tank and filter second hand from a friend and kept the filter wet so help kickstart the bacteria cycle. I’ve been regularly testing the water and this is the reading I got today.

I’m new to this but I believe I can see the ammonia is a bit high, is there anything I can do to fix this? And apart from the ammonia does the nitrates and nitrites look okay?
I’m due to get my Betta this weekend but I will not put a fish in my tank unless I know it’s safe to do so.

Thank you! 🐠

  1. Ammonia should be 0 ppm. I would do a small 20% water change every now and then and use ammonia/dechlorinated stuff I like using seachem prime and check your parameters regularly. Your nitrate and nitrites look good. But make sure ammonia goes down before buying your betta fish.
