It seems like a tale as old as time, our Betta, (Halloween) is bloated, near his head and pine coning, but behaving normally.

Water parameters are:

81.8 degrees, 0ppm Ammonia, 0 ppm Nitrite, less than 5 ppm nitrate, 7.5 ish ph

There is some blue green algae around the heater that I have been trying to deal with with water changes and adding 2 nerite snails. No other changes to the tank. I ordered aquarium salt, and kanaplex, but any other help on what to look for and or do today before they arrive would be great and appreciated.

Feeling pretty bummed, since he was doing so well and was very active since my 3 year old picked him out about 6 months ago.

I would give Kanaplex a try but this is a hard condition to survive from 🙁 sorry this happened to poor Halloween

I’m in a similar situation for about a month now, but my betta hasn’t pineconed. He is super bloated without the pine coning. He behaves and eats normally, but I am feeding much less than before. I have tried kanaplex and salt bath with no noticable difference. Have you seen this image about Betta bloating? I think I found this on FB- [https://imgur.com/a/fmP4ys1](https://imgur.com/a/fmP4ys1) Dropsy has a low survival rate, especially if caught in advanced stages. Early detection and treatment are crucial. Euthanasia might be the most compassionate option, but I just can’t since he doesn’t seem uncomfortable or bothered.
