My betta finally revealed himself! Haha, these days I asked for help to see his gender and so far it was male, but today when I went to feed him I saw the possible “egg spot”, this is my girl now

  1. Worth remembering is that males can also have a false egg spot! Best way to identify “confusing” fish is to look at the overall body shape, as females tend to be a bit bigger/rounder due to having ovaries, their flaring is a little unimpressive unlike males who have a beard/membrane behind the gill plate that extends and is visible even when just breathing normally, and they tend to have short ventral fins (or fins overall, though I’ve seen some quite impressive ladies!). Egg spot is also something they 100% have, but like mentioned, males can have it too and it’s important to look at other signs too if it isn’t too obvious straight away. 😉 I don’t see a beard here, and the front seems to be a bit thicker to me, but you’re the one who can make it flare and see what the head looks like.
