Hello, I just discovered my betta being bloated yesterday and moved him to a cup for now until i can get him a hospital tank. I’ve been making him fast and changing the cup water daily to avoid any issues.
Any advice is appreciated!!

unfortunately, that is likely dropsy, because of his scales pineconing and bloating. try using plain epsom salt or an antibiotic to help your fish. (good luck)
He looks like he’s pineconing. Maybe Dropsy?
He looks like he’s pineconing with dropsy and has a noticeable lump on his side. It’s often hard to have them recover from this late of stages in dropsy, but it’s not always impossible. Most would consider euthanizing at this point as its most humane to the fish, especially with the lump on the side, as you’d likely be dealing with constipation and having to reverse the dropsy. My highest condolences.
I recommend Seachem-Kanaplex as an antibiotic its the best shot for treating dropsy amd should help with fin rot
this poor fish..! does he have a heater and a filter? what size tank is he in??
If you don’t have a hospital tank, you should not keep him in a cup. Changing the cup water every day is very very stressful for him, you can’t keep the water at a consistent tropical temperature, and he doesn’t have anywhere to hide. Keeping him in his tank where he is familiar with things will keep him much more calm until you get a hospital tank, as stress can make illnesses much worse and cause new sicknesses. Unfortunately, it looks like he has dropsy, which has a very low survival rate. Dropsy can happen sometimes with genetic problems or when the fish has infections elsewhere in its body, but happens more commonly when the husbandry is incorrect or the tank is very dirty/not properly set up. It has a root cause somewhere, hopefully you’ll be able to treat him, but know that he may not make it even with medicines, he is already in a quite advanced stage.
Dropsy— little to nothing can be done to help a fish that has this level of bloating. I would just try to keep him comfortable for as long as he has left. So sorry to see this.
