Can anyone tell me what kind of creature my fish is turning in to..? Kidding, but only kind of ๐
Hereโs a photo of when I got her vs now.
She was labeled as a female elephant ear(?) when I bought her. She was like 1/3 the size she is now, (figuratively) circling the drain, in really rough shape and I just didnโt want her to die in a plastic cup without trying. Fast forward 6-7 weeks. Iโm not even sure if itโs a she? Sheโs enormous, her eyes have turned black, and her body is starting to turn black too. I feel like thereโs no way itโs from being sick? She eats and seems way better off than when I got her.. but also, I have no idea and I could be way wrong. Is it normal for her to be turning black?

this is 100% normal
Bettas often change color when in good environments!
Completely normal! Bettas lose pigment when theyโre sick, stressed, or old. They gain pigment as they get healthier! So good job!
You should take it as a compliment. She likes the home you provided for her so she is thriving and showing off her true colours
She is happy with u. Thank u for taking her in and give her a good life she deserves ๐
Sheโs happy!!
I rescued my Nui from a pet store for free. The lovely girl was treating him for fin rot and I mentioned I had an empty cycled 5gal. I wish I had a photo because my tiny boy was mostly pinkish white with some small freckles of color.
He glowed up and looks similar to your girl. You are being a great parent!!

(Sorry for the blurry pic, but you can see heโs not pink anymore)
