I'm brand new to fishing and looking for my first rod and reel. I’ve been wanting to get a good setup, but I'm not sure where to start since many online videos seem old or sponsored.
I found a combo at Walmart for $99.(photo)I plan on fishing only in freshwater for now, but I'm not sure if this is a good deal or if I can get a better 'bang for my buck' elsewhere. I'd prefer to buy new, not secondhand as I don’t know what to look for.
I would appreciate any tips or recommendations. Thanks in advance!

If you’re freshwater, this will most likely be overkill unless you exclusively target species like Striper.
The Shimano Sienna combo would be great for almost all species.
