Hi guys

This is Jin. My Black Samaurai Plakat Betta. Jin shares his tank peacefully with ember tertras, rummynoses, neon green rasboras, some panda corys and a snail called Mr Dinkles.

I’ve had Jin for 2 weeks and this is my first time keeping a Betta. I wanted to check something that is nagging In the back of my mind and that’s the colouration at the back of his dorsal fin. Is it just colouration or something more sinister? I know Bettas are prone to fin rot but I’ve put this down to his colouration (he is half Plakat afterall).

The red marking (I’ve gone back over videos to check, is the same size it was when I got him. He eats and swims well and his water parameters are great too. There’s no unusual behaviour so I just wanted to put this out of my mind.

Advice welcome.

Thanks

  1. Thats just apart of his coloration. As he gets bigger and more mature. You might see even more red come in. If they were also under a lot of stress before they were brought home often time when they are more happy and comfortable their colors can change completely. Fins looks healthy. They aren’t clamped like hes stressed or not feeling well.
