Hey everyone, I'm heading out of town for about 8 to 10 days and need a reliable automatic fish feeder. I’ve got a freshwater tank with 2 adult mollies. Just looking for something dependable that won’t overfeed or jam up. Any recommendations for feeders you’ve used and trusted? Of the 5 different feeders which ones would you recommend the most? Or if there is a better option please let me know!

Never used one, but I trust eheim …please set it at least a week before your vacation…make sure everything is working well, feeding timing, quantity etc…
No need to feed for up to 2 week trip. Unless you have fry…
I have the Fish Mate and recommend it every time this question gets asked here. Other compartmented feeders might work just as well (or even better), but I don’t have firsthand experience.
I’ve used the Fish Mate with Hikari Micro Pellets, algae wafers, betta pellets and baby vibra bites (and combinations thereof).
You can also hook up an air pump to keep condensation out.
Edit: the one thing about the Fish Mate is its mechanical simplicity. It’s just a clock motor that spins around in 24 hours, and advances the compartment wheel when one of the pegs catches it. That also means that if you have a larger amount of food in there, it may get dropped in slowly over the course of an hour or two.
Maybe the digital ones will actually move an entire compartment quickly at the set time (in which case they might be “better”, depends on what you want), but I don’t know.
I’ve got the first eheim one in the photos and have gone almost a month using it. It would have gone another week or two. Use small granular food.
I’ve got a pair of those last ones (petbank) and they’ve been pretty good. I had a problem was when I had a buildup of flake food prevent it from turning the carousel. The other problem I’ve run into is large disc shaped foods like algae wafers sometimes don’t drop, so I started breaking them in half.
I would suggest a friend.
I’ve got the Eheim one. It works fine, my only beef with it is that it cannot feed less than once a day – I normally feed every second day.
For fish food is honestly one of the least important things for them they don’t need to eat often anything under 2 weeks just feed heavy 2 days before you leave and do a water change the day you leave and they’ll be perfectly fine
