Here is a before (picture in comments) and after (video) of my betta, Bowie. His tail had looked fine for the month that ive had him, the smaller fins on his back and stomach have improved and while i havent noticed improvement on his back two fins they havent deteriorated, (im very new at this, and kind of freaking out) a few minutes ago i got to his tank and noticed how frayed his tail looks, there arent any sharp edges in his tank that im aware of, ive considered fin nipping from himself or a tank mate but how the texture of the rest of the edge of his tail really concern me (im currently checking water peramiters but they were almost perfect not too long ago) please help!

  1. The color changing? They do that. The edges looking torn? Could be he’s getting caught on something. Another fish is nipping them, or something’s off with the water

An “after” pic with his fins spread may help more. Hard to tell while he’s moving. From what I can tell, I think (emphasis on the THINK) his fins may have gotten ripped. Did you sand those rocks before putting them in his tank? We really need the bot questions answered because they will help us provide insight and not just guess.

Looks like fin nipping, what are his tank mates? How long you keep the lights on? What’s the tank temperature?

And please answer the bot questions
