Hi everyone! This is Lincoln and he’s my first betta fish and my first fish in general that I have ever owned. I’ve had him for about 10 months now. Over the last couple of months I’ve noticed his fins not looking great, his fins have never been super long but they definitely look rough right now. I’ve treated him with the doxycycline packets you can get at pet smart- did all 4 doses of them. But he also has this growth on his eye, its white and protruding further out than his other eye. I feel horrible and feel like a horrible fish mom! Any advice is highly appreciated!!

He is in a 10 gallon tank and water parameters are all normal. The alkalinity is a little low. Water is 78 degrees F

  2. wow, that one scary betta fish ( i am not a super duper expert, but have you considered euthenasia ?)

  3. I am sorry but he looks horrendous, is he eating normal? And swimming around fine? All I can guess is he has some sort of scale cancer with tumors all over his scale layer and eyes, probably nothing you did, bettas are just inbred af at this point to make them look nice.

Id say if hes not eating/thriving its time to euthanize, but if hes eating and exploring/still there mentally, then just keep the tank clean and watch for decline, but maybe someone more knowledgeable in betta diseases(cureable ones) can chime in, but this is the 3rd post ive seen of a betta like this, and I am convinced its from the same breeder and its genetic.
