Do they really do what? Also, if your tank is just being set up, you will need to perform a diligent fish-in cycle (-:
That fish looks rough.
Can you get a better picture of his face / mouth? Possibly with stronger illumination?
It is normal for them to rest on top of heaters, especially because it looks like your temp tank doesn’t have really have much for him to rest on. He doesn’t look very good though, maybe stressed from traveling 🙁
Aaaah your tank isn’t cycled at all!!!!! What are you doing!!! No wonder it’s lethargic you have it in poison!
That doesn’t look like a rosetail to me, more like a delta or a super delta. Pet stores mislabel tail types all the time.
Theres not much else for him to hide behind or rest on, also could be cold…also looks like the min water line is above the water line on the heater.
Checkout fish in cyling(nitrogen cycle) as its a very important step good luck.
This is a good way for that betta to get a serious burn. Try to get a heater for his setup with a guard on it.
It is not unusual for them to try to cram into small spaces, especially if that is the only cover in this temp setup.
Mine would rest in his plant, or near the top of the water. Dude loved to scare me half to death, cause he’d be swimming, then just suddenly go limp and float near the top. (He was very active, and liked to curiously follow fingers near the glass, but he was also really into naps)
Id rather put him in an unfinished 5 gal then into a death bow, but also – do what? Hang on to objects? Yes they like to sit on things
Why did you buy the fish when the tank isn’t ready? That fish looks like it’s in extremely rough shape, and is probably super stressed out. You need to get it some cover and places to rest, and make sure the water parameters are stable
Hey there. You’re better off putting your Betta in that 5 gallon and doing a “fish in cycle” — test the water every day and change the water if there are 0.25ppm or more of ammonia or nitrite.
The build up in the water in that little vessel he’s in is going to be far more difficult for you to manage and far worse for the health of your fish.
Yes they love to rest haha mine do the same on the suction cups and heaters
If you’re living in a tropical region, you can skip the heater unless you run A/C on full blast.
