I’ve had my betta (he’s called hotdawg) for about a month, I don’t know whether he just has some weird quirks or there is something wrong. He rested against the intake to my filter box and what seems like plays dead when I don’t feed him at usual times. Recently he has started hiding towards the back of the tank and in his tea cup which seems odd since before he was quite interactive? He has also started not coming to the top of the tank when I feed him like he’s not hungry so I just send to drop a couple of pellets in but he’s not bothered about them straight away. Please can I have a little bit of help as this is my first time owning a betta and he is already my baby and I would hate for something to be not right

Bettas have a labyrinth organ so they rest on stuff near the surface. If he’s resting on your filter then there probably isn’t enough stuff to rest on. Get some long stem plants and some people recommend betta logs. Him being less active and hiding in stuff might be because there isn’t enough clutter, I noticed with my bettas they’re more interesting in interacting with me and exploring more when there’s a TON of clutter. No such thing as too many plants. If your betta won’t come to the top you can either do what you’re doing until he gets the memo or you can use tongs to bring food down to him

I’m quite new to Reddit so I’m not quite sure what I’m doing. My tank is 10 litres and I have a heater and filter, I’m not really sure about the ammonia and ph, I got my tank a week before my fish and I’ve had hotdawg a month, there is a shrimp and like 10 small snails that were stuck to the plants when I got them, I feed him pellets that I got advised to buy when I got him and I have gravel, live plants and a teacup in his tank.
